It helps to keep your child involved by having challenges! They will learn engineering principles through experimentation.

Marshmallows and Toothpicks
Make shapes: Squares, rectangles, cubes, and prisms
Build a tower that stands tall. How many marshmallows did you use before it fell?
You can also use gummy bears or clay. Clay isn't edible so not quite as much fun!

- How many blocks do you need to create a structure that is at least 12" tall?
- Using only planks or blocks build a bridge.
- Create a straight track that is at least 4 feet long for a marble or ping-pong ball.
- Design a structure that makes a lot of NOISE when you release the ball!
- Design a tower marble run that traps the marble at the end.
- Design a marble run that brings takes the marble out of a shoot.
- Design a marble run that starts and ends at the same place.
- Design a tower and see how much weight it can hold in pennies, small books, or other household objects.
- Design a tower to see how tall you can make it before it falls.
- Create your own challenge!
